Please note that availability for treatments is limited so we encourage you to make your bookings early.

If you intend to stay at Shizuka Ryokan, we recommend that you book treatments as part of a package at the same time as making your accommodation booking; you will be given priority and better pricing by booking ahead in this way.

If you are staying with us but requesting a booking later online – please note “ryokan guest” so that we can make your experience as seamless as possible.

If you are staying elsewhere, you may request a booking online or call 03 5348 2030.

Please advise us if you are pregnant at the time of booking.

Geisha Facial

Our signature facial. For over 1,200 years Japanese women have used natural cleansing, exfoliating and hydrating techniques to ensure a radiant complexion. These beauty rituals were elevated to an art form by the Geisha. Our unique facial utilises white tea, lotus root, camellia oil, yamamomo mountain peach, brown sugar, bamboo and, the most precious ingredient of all, nightingale droppings. (Sterilised by UV light, the droppings contain precious natural enzymes that smooth and lighten the skin). Skin brushing techniques and acupressure on the face and legs are also included in the treatment. Suitable for all skin types. Shizuka facials incorporate an aromatic massage of the neck, shoulders, decolletage and scalp, and leave the skin and spirit refreshed and revitalised.

Not suitable during pregnancy.
Duration: 60 minutes.
Price: $200

Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing and energising treatment combining point release, deep massage and stretches. It eases aching muscles, increases vitality and relieves fatigue. With it’s roots in traditional Chinese medicine, shiatsu aims to promote the flow of vital energy (also known as “chi”) and facilitate healing. According to the principles of traditional medicine, blockages in the flow of energy can contribute to a wide range of illnesses. Shiatsu is done in a traditional Japanese room on a futon with the earthy scent of the tatami mats encouraging deep relaxation. No massage oil is used so you will need to wear loose or stretchy, comfortable clothing. It is the perfect complement to your stay at a traditional Japanese inn.

Our shiatsu therapists are qualified to treat pregnant women.

Duration: 60 minutes.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a simple and effective form of non-invasive healing. It is based on the idea that reflex points on the feet, hands and ears correspond with parts of the body, and by stimulating these points there will be a direct effect upon the corresponding area. Reflexologists are trained to identify imbalances in the body and aim to bring the body back into balance. Reflexology is beneficial for muscular, skeletal, digestive, reproductive and respiratory conditions, as well as stress.
