Shizuka Ryokan is renowned for its washoku — authentic Japanese seasonal cuisine.

  • The traditional Japanese breakfast — a well-balanced meal served on a tray with several condiments in the Teishoku style — is served daily.
  • The omakase banquet — a set of dining courses selected by the chef daily with regard to freshness and seasonality —is available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.
  • The ramen dinner — Japanese noodles served in a rich and flavourful broth — is available on Friday.

Most dietary requirements can be catered with advance notice. Vegan and vegetarian meals are delicious.

Bed & Breakfast bookings (only available via this website) include breakfast. Room Only bookings may add breakfast for $35 per guest.

The banquet dinner costs $99 per guest—this is discounted to $89 if booked at the same time as your original online accommodation reservation.

We also accept meal bookings from our local community and visitors staying elsewhere in the region. Breakfast, dinner and ramen must be booked in advance.

Omakase Dinner

The Shizuka Ryokan omakase dinner offers a unique and unforgettable dining experience to savour the best of Japanese cuisine. The seasonal ingredients we use are from local producers including vegetables and meats and poultries.

An omakase dinner is a journey through Japan’s culinary landscape, guided by the expertise and creativity of our beloved chefs.

Each dish is meticulously prepared and presented, often with a narrative about the ingredients and their significance. This creates not just a meal, but an immersive cultural experience that changes with the seasons.
