Set amid four acres of bushland, Shizuka Ryokan offers a traditional Japanese experience. Guestrooms feature futon bedding, tatami straw matting, shoji rice paper sliding screens, tokonoma alcoves, zaisu chairs, zabuton cushions and kotatsu low tables.
With the intimacy of just six guestrooms, Shizuka Ryokan offers traditional Japanese accommodation with an Australian twist—the grounds are often visited by kangaroos, echidnas and native birdlife.
Our room rates—when purchased on our website—include a guestroom with a deep Japanese soaking bath or a spa bath, a private Japanese garden, breakfast daily, and a leisurely 11:00am check-out. At Shizuka Ryokan, the emphasis is on relaxation. To that end, we do not have televisions or telephones in our guestrooms. While very popular with couples, singles and small groups, the ryokan is not an appropriate venue for babies and children under the age of 16.
Shizuka Ryokan is renowned for the hospitality of our Japanese staff and our authentic cuisine. As well as a banquet Japanese dinner, we offer a traditional Japanese breakfast so rarely offered in Australia.
We offer award winning spa services. We recommend that you reserve spa treatments as early as possible as appointments book out. While Shizuka Ryokan’s guests take priority when it comes to spa bookings, we welcome members of the public to come and enjoy the spa.
A visit to Shizuka Ryokan is often enjoyed by couples celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions. We offer Gift Vouchers for purchase on this website.
We look forward to welcoming you to Shizuka Ryokan, Australia’s only traditional Japanese Ryokan wellness retreat.
