Shizuka Ryokan is renowned for its authentic traditional cuisine. Indeed, it is one of the few Australian venues offering a fully traditional Japanese breakfast platter. With advance notice at least one week before arrival, we will happily discuss and accommodate most special dietary requirements.
All breakfast and dinner requirements must be booked in advance of the arrival date. The banquet dinner is $85 per guest – but is discounted to just $75 if booked at the same time as your original online accommodation reservation. Whilst Bed & Breakfast “B&B” bookings (only available via this website) naturally include breakfast, guests on “Room Only” rates (with reservations made via third-party booking sites) may add breakfast for $25 per guest when requested in advance of the arrival date.
The “omakase” banquet dinner service is available on selected nights, usually Saturday, Monday and Thursday evenings. Omakase is a Japanese phrase that literally means “I’ll leave it to you”. Derived from the concept to entrust, the term describes a set of dining courses that are especially selected by the chef on a daily basis having regard for freshness, seasonality, availability and dietary restrictions. Variations will occasionally occur due to menu development and the seasonal availability of some ingredients.
As an indicative example, the following was a recent offering for guests…
Deconstructed salmon sushi, AND
Organic soba noodle salad with a sesame goma dressing
Pork and vegetable gyoza dumplings, steamed then fried to create a unique texture, AND
