Shizuka Ryokan boasts an enthusiastic, dedicated and talented workforce, all equipped with a variety of qualifications, skills and experience.

Apart from housekeeping and chef positions, the majority of staff openings are for either the spa therapy or Japanese staff categories. 

Japanese staff

Various opportunities for Japanese staff are often available. For these positions, staff accommodation is available.

Positions are open to those holding a Working Holiday Visa or other permit which allows employment. 

Intending applicants should contact Shizuka Ryokan as soon as they know when they will be in Melbourne and thus available to undertake an informal employment interview and site inspection of our facilities.

Part of the standard travel expenses from Melbourne are reimbursed for interviewees. These jobs regularly become available every few months.

Sometimes, our Japanese staff even have the opportunity to meet Santa Clause or be filmed on national TV!

Spa Therapists

Various exciting opportunities for spa staff are now available. Shiatsu Massage qualifications in particular will be highly regarded.

Shizuka Ryokan is expanding its spa services and enhancing its roster of qualified therapists. Successful candidates will receive orientation and appropriate incremental training. Applicants must hold appropriate insurance and professional association membership and be experienced in providing some services from a menu including Shiatsu, facials, body polish and wraps, foot and back treatments and relaxation massage.
