Credit Card Policy
The use and safety of your credit card number
We routinely request credit card numbers to secure deposits and reservations at Shizuka Ryokan. This is to provide a fair environment or “level playing field” to all those guests seeking to book accommodation, cuisine or spa services.
50% deposits are required to confirm the reservation and are usually processed when a booking is first made.
Immediately prior to your arrival, we usually request from the bank a so-called “pre-authorisation” on the nominated card number for the total remaining amount expected to be spent. This is not a full or part payment in any way.
This process simply reserves or "holds" the funds in your credit card account for the anticipated future payment. This may cover any possible additional incidental expenses that may be incurred during the stay such as beverage, mini-bar and additional spa treatment costs. Guests are also responsible for all costs associated with any loss or damage to property incurred during their stay.
Should the pre-authorisation be declined by the bank, which is usually because of an insufficient remaining credit limit, we will contact you to make alternative arrangements prior to your arrival.
When you check out of Shizuka Ryokan, you are free to choose to pay any remaining costs by cash, EFTPOS, the previously nominated credit card or indeed with another MasterCard or Visa credit or debit card.
Should you elect to pay by the previously nominated card, the “check out” payment cancels the pre-authorisation. If you use another payment method, the pre-authorisation hold will automatically expire in several days and restore your credit limit.
Please be assured that we operate all guest financial transactions with the utmost transparency, care and responsibility. Please feel free to ask the Manager should you have any questions.
We trust that you have a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing stay.
